I use 50/50 prestone mix and I have no problems. Don't really see a difference from that and Honda.

I guess most of you miss this post from above. Silicate is not good for aluminum. It will react with aluminium and causes corrosion. Silicate can also gel up and clog your cooling system.

A lot of new engine block and head are made of aluminum now a day.

Just do a search on "silicate free coolant".

These are some good points about the chemical reactions, etc. and concerns for the environment. However, no anti-freeze is really environmentally "safe." You sure as hell shouldn't just be dumping it out in the driveway and street.

Prestone 50/50 is all I've ever used.

Honda OEM fluids are best for things like brake fluid and power steering fluid; but don't get crazy having to have everything Honda OEM.

Once I was buying oil at Honda dealer and I also asked about coolant.
Parts guy told me that I can get coolant at parts store much cheaper and there is no reason to over pay for it.

The best thing you can do for the environment is not ot change the coolant frequently. Coolant typcially last 5-6 years or 100,000 miles.

People make too big of a deal out of coolant. Buy a name brand or from the Honda dealer... and be doen wiht it. Cooling systems are overbuilt by at least 30% so that he radiator can take significant damamge and the water pump and thermostat can begien ot wear without the system overheating.
