manually shifting an automatic???

I'll guarantee you that an automatic tranny Accord doesn't make any additional power over redline.
You should let the trans shift for you.

damn I always go from D4 to D3 to quickly pass people... just feel like it shaves off a second before the tranny would realize that I want to move and then down shift. Don't really see how it's that much different from the tranny doing it. As long as I match the RPMs it's pretty smooth.
Though, if anyone really knows, help me save my transmission.

this is OT from the subject..
but is it true that V6's gasoline needle just drops to the E when you turn the car off?
i have I4 lx, and it just stays while ever other needles go down..
I am asking this cuz i am planning on getting indiglow soon.

I have a manual trans now, but on my previous Accord I would sometimes manually downshift the auto trans for engine braking. I never saw a performance reason to do it though.
Engine braking is useful for those times when you need to slow down in a hurry without lighting up your brake lights and/or nosediving. Those times usually involve seeing a police officer you hadn't noticed; it makes you want to get your speed down closer to the number on the road signs without letting him see that you know you're guilty.
I'll downshift and handbrake in that situation.
