Go ahead and slap him. If you really want to shift that bad, get a stick.

Those are Tow Gears!...If your towing something go ahead and use it if not, after a while expect your tranny to die.

if it were meant to be like a stick then they would have a tiptronic transmission.

I manually shift when the situation requires it, which is rarely. And usually then it's from 2 to D4. Manually shifting an automatic is ****ing stupid.

It is stupid for the V6, thank god I4 have rock solid transmissions. I personally got an automatic because I sit in a lot of traffic commuting to work, but there is the urge to down shift every now and then. I would NOT do it on a V6.

well the theory is, manually upshifting an automatic doesn't hurt it anymore than letting the computer do it for you. Well it may cause a tad more wear than normal daily driving. The only thing this will benefit you is being able to control the shift point, letting your engine rev higher. But downshifting is a nono, this will cause even more wear upon the tranny. Depending on where your downshifting too can be a great deal. For example: D4 to D3 is ok, but D4 all the way down to 2 or 1 is just stupid.

Not all Honda transmissions are bulletproof whether new or old you can surely beat the crap out of them more than you can our american counterparts. There will be a time where that tranny will go out... just don't make that time any sooner than it must be.

If you really wanna shift, do a 5spd swap, or buy a car with 5 or 6spd....it is so much better.

when you floor the paddel, it auto-down shifts.
read your Owner's manule people.
when you manually do so, it GUZZLES ON THE GAS.
so, nono. Auto is Auto, u can sure redline every gear with an auto tranny, so why even bother touching the shifter?

The only time I've found manually controlling an auto useful is when descending mountain grades.

well this is very simple to those of you that do NOT own a 7th gen Automatic I4......We have 5 speed auto, and I do in fact take a look every now and then in the owners manual but simple common sense will tell you that and automatic transmission will obviously autoshift for you..so thanks, I don't need a manual to tell me that. When the car is slowing down, there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping the car in 3rd gear, yes you will use more gas, but that is your call. I have found it very usefull 'sometimes' to downshift and get more power to merge into traffic, plus if I let my foot off the gas, I can downsift to slow down, that will also not hurt the car, it just slows it down quicker rather having the whole highway hitting brakes and causing another traffic jam. Thanks, I drove stick for 6 years, got my license with a stick, and I am in too much traffic to own a stick. Now I am not saying that if you drive 80MPH and you downshift to 3rd everything is fine and dandy, you will cause damage doing that (Pure common sense)!!! The V6's are another story, they are known for their issues. I know even the 7th gen V6 has a TSB out for the tranny now.... Keep in mind, I don't have a habit of doing this, but I have done it, and it has worked beautifully!

yes wrong with keeping the car in 3rd gear, it stays in 3rd gear.
I know auto's have higher gear-ratios, but it doesn't mean so much. u'll be running 3~4000 rpm for most of times.
oh, when you make a stop from 40, your car downshiifts..not that it just puts it in nutural.

so, not worth doing the shift unless you are on mountains going up. or in winter streets,
