damn I always go from D4 to D3 to quickly pass people... just feel like it shaves off a second before the tranny would realize that I want to move and then down shift. Don't really see how it's that much different from the tranny doing it. As long as I match the RPMs it's pretty smooth.
Though, if anyone really knows, help me save my transmission.
