Default Mad scientist idea

Ok i been sittin in my room thinking "aluminum is a reflective material" "hot air is bad for engine" "cold air is good" basically i figured that if i surround my CAI with aluminum it will lower the temperature even more resulting in more HP!! is this true or am i just out of my mind?

Aluminum will still conduct heat but not as much as steel.

I think most CAI's use a thermoplastic or aluminum.

It'll look dumb and probably won't be too noticeable.

plenty of people use heat shields around the air filter, but not the whole intake. i dunno, you could try it, but i doubt you're going to notice anything

It would not make enough difference for you to notice if you had a reflective material on your CAI. Now, if you could figure out a way to refrigerate the incoming air and keep it that way going into the engine, then you'd have a decent hp gain.

IMO, the air spends so little time in the intake anyway, that the temp. of the incoming air is more critical.
