i had a thought once about using the ac compressor to charge cold air into the intake. of course that would mean i would have no ac inside my car, but who cares.. i would have had a "cold air conditioned intake" haha. but it was just a thought.. never attempted, but im sure honda or some company could make something similiar.

I had an idea to use the A/C compressor to cool the INTERCOOLER on a Buick Regal T-Type, back when I had one of them. Turned out that not only would it work, but someone already was making and selling them!!!!!!

That goes without saying.
How about something that works more than a few seconds at a time?

I've also heard of people ducting their a/c into the intake, but running a compressor uses mucho hp. On my old Civic, turning the a/c on was like using reverse thrusters.

Better ask the common sense scientist next time...why are you trying to reflect sunlight under a dark hood?

go on a good run, come back, and feel ur cai...mine's usually pretty cool, esp compared w/ the engine bay...not that i've driven couple thousand miles and slapped my hand on it...but the times that i've tried, it's been cool nuff that u can touch it and therefore, IMHO don't need a heat shield for it

Used in the right way aluminum can reflect heat as well as light, but having it on the CAI is not going to make appreciable changes in air temp.
