go on a good run, come back, and feel ur cai...mine's usually pretty cool, esp compared w/ the engine bay...not that i've driven couple thousand miles and slapped my hand on it...but the times that i've tried, it's been cool nuff that u can touch it and therefore, IMHO don't need a heat shield for it
