I used 500 degree ceramic engine paint on my header cover and it has been on for a year and a half and looks like when I first sprayed it. If you sand the peice really good, leave a surface that the paint can bite into it will work. Make sure you go over the whole peice with some paint prep spray to clean off all the oil and it should be fine.

Engine degreaser, sandpaper, and ceramic high temp paint.

If it is peeling/flaking, yes! YOu could always chrome that peice too. Maybe the chroming place would cut youn a deal....

Make sure you get high temp paint... prep the valve cover, wash it, make sure its clean, and sanding with fine grit sand wouldn't hurt. That's the cheapest way, or you can send it out to get powder-coated-so paint will never fade. I know of a guy if you're interested.

I was going to paint mine, but got a real Type R one instead. I was afraid paint will fade and my motor gets really really hot, didn't want to risk anything.

Good Luck

I just bought some high-temp paint from a local car parts place ... I live here in AZ where it gets really hot. I have had it painted for over a year now, with no flaking issues.
