In discussion with H&R and Koni tech heads about my problem, I was told that the best way to determine drop from adjustable struts is to put the factory and aftermarket struts beside each other and compare the factory perch location to the different perch locations on the aftermarket strut. The difference is your drop. This was mentioned because the tech heads said the middle perch for the Koni (their equivalent to stock height) is not always exactly the same as the location for the factory. A diagram would tell you actual change because each application is different. Ok...

Here's another example of application... I just got back from having my fix done to my problem. I found the part number on the H&R OE springs to be different than the part number on the box, which matched my number for my 95 Accord. I called H&R. The explanation is the springs themselves actually fit 90-97 Accords so the spring part number is the same. The box (kit model number) represents the application for 94-95 models. Why I ask... it's to help differentiate the drop difference that the same springs provide for each model year group. .75" for 90-93 and 97+, the 94-95s have .25" drop. Ok...

I fixed my problem by having the rear struts move up to the top perch setting. The ride is noticeable better with no bottoming out. I now have a gap of three fingers, up from less than 1. I might go to the middle perch once I install the 17" wheels. I left the front struts on the bottom perch. This give the car a slight raked look. I'll probably soften the struts firmness setting by 1/2 turn.

In all of the threads I've read about quality of struts, most say if you have the money buy Koni. If you don't have the money go with others.

Ok... took the rears up to the top perch. Now have a 2" gap which is ok by me for now until the 17s arrive. The front stayed on low perch to give me a 1" gap. I have a raked stance. I kept the H&R OE springs. The ride is much better now, firmer than stock, nice handling going around corners, much flatter, less dive from the nose during braking. I will be moving the Koni settings from 1 full turn past soft to 1/2 turn from soft.
