Default thinking about buying a beater/project car

as anyone who has payed any attention to me knows, (or by my name) i have a 93 ex accord, its a green coupe and i love it, but during the winter i hate to torment it with these terrible ohio winters. so i am thinking about getting a winter beater / project car... i found it while driving about 60miles from any city (GF had me stressed/worried, so i took a vent-drive) and i stubbled apon what i though looked so SEXY a 1986 2 door hatchback grey accord with replaced tranny and engine, its 5 sp with flip up head lights... its kinda beat up (rusted and dents in hood) it runs and is driveable.
he wants $200 OBO... i think i can talk him down to <100 do you think it would be a good deal or at least worth considering...
BTW i have never seen a 2dr hatchback it was odd Z

anyone know the specs, like HP, engine ect. :dunno:

i saw a hatchback today, and that would look hella pimp if modified. except that its a beater...then u shouldnt invest in it. id just get a 2nd gen camry, those things are so cheap and reliable.

Shit, im going to pick up a 1980 Tercel with 45k original miles for 200 bucks.
Its tan with front black fenders and a hole on the rear left of the car.

I dont need to open the hatch. I could just toss my groceries through the hole.

Im getting tired of driving my accord and VW right now.
I need something that doesnt attract attention.
Plus, I hate driving to my g/f house all the time.
The roads to her house SUPER SUCK!!! and its either I invest in a shit car or **** up my suspension.

I think 200 bucks is a good deal.

ok thanks for the advice... my freinds dad is building his barn into a shop. he has the paint equipment and all the tools for rebuilding cars... so we figured if we split 50/50 the cost then just rip it apart and see where it goes

I'd hop on ANYTHING for $100 with a replaced engine/tranny. It sounds like you hit the jackpot!

it depends which model it is if its a DX then it has 98 HP if its the LXI then it has 110 HP but in 1988 they boosted the LXIs engine output to 120 HP as far as engine size is concerned it has a 2.0 carborated or fuel injected engine
