sometimes a weird smell comes from my car, like burning ass, i figure might be from slipping the clutch...and when i shift sometimes it feels like it still wants to catch...and reverse it stops right before it goes into gear..and i have to let out the clutch a little bit to get it to engade into revers, im really lost on this

 

When you experience the smell, are you pushing the car hard?

Other symtoms that may show signs that it may be th clutch are:
If you see smoke coming from the front of your car then it could be the clutch.
Feels like you are shifting into a wall, moving or stopped.
Gears catch too soon, and you hear a grinding noise when trying to shift up.
Rpms shoot up high for no reason with the slightest tap of the gas pedal while you are already moving.

All of this happend to me when my orignal clutch went about 1 1/2yrs. ago.

 

yeah i do push it a little and the smoke...when i back up really quick smoke is settleing in front of the car and everyonec in a while it will catch early and i think once the RPM's shot up

 

Then I am thinking that it is most likely your clutch. It sounds like you don't have much left on the clutch plate before it completely goes, and then the car will hardly move.
