Any of you guys used royal purple oils on your engine/manual tranny?
If so, how is it?

Must not be that good. I haven't heard the name Royal Purple in almost three years.

paying that much money for oil is nuts when mobil 1 fine and probably overkill for an accord anyways.

anyways i'd use redline before royal purple if i wanted to $8 a qt for oil since they seem to market is too much like a gimmick it doesn't sit well with me.

I get royal purple for the same amount I would for full synthetic motor oil. I use it all the time now and it works great. There was a drop in my temp and the motor runs a whole lot smoother then it did before and runs stronger. It was recommend too me by a few friends ranging from spec-v's to hondas so i said what the hell I'll give it a try. I now recommend it. Just give it a try. I only use it for the motor. For the tranny I use Redline MTL.

Unless you are a serious drag racer, I doubt you'll need the Royal Purple oil. I use Valvoline myself and it works just fine.

My father swears by Amsoil, and thats all he runs in his Benz, my mother's LeSabre, and their F-150 farm truck. They all run smooth as glass.

Clicky Clicky -for Amsoil Corporate Site- Clicky Clicky

He swears by that stuff. I swear by Mobil1, and Mobil oils in general. Too bad most Honda dealerships are in bed with Pennzoil.

Mobil 1 is the best out there and it is only 4 dollars a quart. BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Viper, several other exotic cars, spaceship, airplanes, and tons of small commercial use Mobil 1. I think a lot of 18-wheelers use Amsoil because it can take more abuse in a year than Mobil 1. Amsoil can only be bulk purchase from online and catelog vendors. They put so much zinc in it that it is bad for the catalyst. It is way over kill for smaller vehicles because zinc is a super overkill agent. It is bad for cars too.

I use Royal Purple in my Supra..........I use Mobil 1 on all the rest of my vehicles. I get Royal purple for free because they sponsor my friend's car so that definitely helps with the cost. I probably wouldn't use it if I didn't get it from him. However I'm not sure if most of you know or not but Mobil 1 Synthetic is not a full synthetic, its a blend. Its widely debated whether that is good or bad, however it works for me so I still use it. There are also differences in eastern and western oils. Oils from the eastern United states have a tendancy to make more ash......which leaves some residue in your engine, companies like Penzoil and Valvoline or was it Castrol? Anyways, Mobil is probably the best you can get out there for just a basic oil.
