No, it was pretty easy... after getting the dash apart. I lost one spring-clip from the clock module and several from the dash panel. I heard them drop deep into the recesses of the dashboard. Could never see them. Probably will pick up a few spares before I do the final put-back.

When I got the radio I was scared. There was a sticker on the bottom with a schematic. For Pin 3, the steering wheel remote lead, it said "N.C.". Said the same thing for a few others around Pin 16 - 20. I was afraid that meant not connected. Probably wouldn't have bought it had I seen that.

Swapping the radios was a breeze. Simply pulled the old one and plugged in the new one. Fired it up, entered the code and tuned a station. Then I closed my eyes while I punched the remote and hear the sound of success.

Next I swapped the brackets off the old radio to the new one and mounted it up. The only remaining concern is that it seems to sit not flush with the dash panel, it's recessed a little bit. I'll see if the mounting brackets are a little different to bring the unit out a few mm.

Next step is to figure out where to mount the iPod and possible XM receiver, install a PIE adapter and start enjoying it.

 

if you could hook up the ipod could I hook up a laptop then and use the mp3s off of it. I don't want to use those crappy wireless transmitters though

 

Don't see any reason why not. The iPod is just hooking up with it's headphone jack. You could use the line out or speaker jack of the laptop for the same thing.

 

Exactly what kind of an adapter do you have to hook up your ipod. Is it just a Y adapter that plugs into your headphone jack and then to your RCA outputs on your CD player. If so can you still hook up a amp then?

I'll use a cable that converts the headphone jack to two RCA plugs. The blue connector plugs into the back of my head unit. My head unit will see the Blitzsafe as an external CD changer.
