Radio help - almost there
In my quest to find a solution to hook up an iPod and / or XM unit to my factory stereo I've determined that I need to ditch the 6-disc built-in changer model I now have for one that has a CD changer port.
I've found this radio:

I'm 99% sure it comes from a 2002 Accord SE. Have talked to two dealerships parts departments to confirm that they do sell a CD changer interface and changer for this radio. This tells me that it DOES have a CD changer port.
Only need to confirm that my steering wheel controls can drive this puppy. Anyone know the answer to that? Or, where I can find the answer?

i can see the changer port from here. (the pins to the left of the blue harness)
i can't tell you a positive answer on the steering wheel controls though. you'll have to do some research on the SE's to see if it was available on them. *looking for resources now*

"Steering Wheel-Mounted Audio Controls" = EX and EXV6 models only
no go on the SE

Can we be 100% sure just on this alone?
Just because they didn't offer the control as an option doesn't necessarily mean that the radio can't support it. I base this on two ideas:
1.) In other models the radio was installed in both trim levels -- one that offered the steering wheel controls and others that didn't. i.e. in 2001 you could get an EX without leather 4 cyl that has my radio but not the steering wheel controls. In older 98+ Accords I think they used the same radio in many of the trim levels.
2.) Talked to a knowledgeable guy at www.logjamelectronics.com He said that the steering wheel control is very simple, usually one wire. To me it would seem trivial for the feature to be enabled on the radio itself -- even if the actual trim of the car didn't include the controller

I'm not familiar with that radio. Is it like the one in the 98 EX pictured in the lead post of this thread?: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=123776
Anything else you can tell me about it?

Stopped by a local Honda dealer today and talked to a service guy. He looked up some schematics and other things. It appears that the connectors and wiring are the same for each. The only difference is that PIN3 is the one for the steering wheel remote controller. The radio in question has no wire to that pin from the attached wiring harness.
Looks like it might work if that PIN exists on the head unit. At least that's what I'm hoping.
