Default Radio code - this sucks!

Ok I know there are previous posts on this, I did a search and read them.

I need to punch in my radio code after disconnecting my battery. The person I bought the car from does not have this info.

I have talked to other people at my work who ran into this, and all of them said that they were able to get their radio code via the VIN#. Is this not possible for honda's? Why?

Ok the local dealership wants $69 to rip out my radio. They said that to remove it they have to take out the whole center dash. A local car audio shop quoted me $43.

I refuse to pay $ just to turn my own damn radio back on. (:madfawk: F-U car dealerships!)

I also have no idea how to take this thing apart my self, and am afraid of trying because what if I break something? What if I can't get it back together the right way?

Does anyone have any good info, tips, or links for taking my center dash apart? model in sig. Its the stock honda radio for my model.

Thanks.

I'd bitch to the dealership you got the car from. that's what I did and the dealership finially got the code for me, and if they do it tell them you'll write up a real nice letter to the owner of the dealership telling them how their service is. Every time I go into my dealership the guy that got the code for me helps me out and has even offered me his discount on parts if I need any. if you do have to take the radio out of your dash its not too difficult, do you have a Hayes manual?

No, I do not have a hayes manual, but I know of them. Would that show tear down of my dash?

Also I bought the car used from a classified ad, not at a dealership.

I've disconnected my battery twice before. I've never had to punch in a radio code

yes, i do. I disconnected the negative battery cable for like 5 minutes (working on that dumb grounding upgrade), and when I turned the radio back on, all i had to do was reset all my favorite radio stations...

The code is on a sticker in the glove box and on the back of some radios. The code is on your car. Someone on this forum posted the sticker locations once.
