We LX'ers don't have to punch in the code like the EX'ers. Different HU.

oh, so we don't have a radio code? Or is it needed when completely disconnected from the car?

I haven't had my HU in my car for a long time, but I'm pretty sure only the EX's need the code.

Ya know I was thinking, maybe you DO have a radio code in yours. I just know that with my 99, there is no code for the LX's because all my LX came with with the AM/FM/Cassette HU. You have a AM/FM/CD HU in your 2002 LX right? If that's the case, maybe you do have a code, I just know my 99 LX HU doesn't.

2001-2002 LX(SE) model Accords got the older 98-00 EX CD-Radios.

2001-2002 EX cars got a newer 6-disc indash/cassette radio.
The Sedan EX V6 in 01-02 got an even better 6-disc then the Coupe of the same year. It is the highest wattage of them all and sounds the best. My sister has this model, It kicks mine bad.

98-00 LX didn't have codes b/c they didn't have security systems standard as the EX models did. The code is just a carry over from the older 98-00EX's into the LX's latter on.

For the record the double din CD unit (w/ code) z998-00EX/01-02Lx) is an Alpine model. The 6-disc EX V6 Sedan 01-02 is a Panasonic model.

When I bought my Accord, the dealer gave me a plastic card with the radio code sticker on it. A few days later when I was going though my car, I found a second radio code sticker stuck to the inside of the glove box.

Not sure why they did that (Honda or dealer). What is the point of the code then. Eventually people will know where the code is and steal the radio and code at the same time.

The dealer wanted to charge my friend for this as well, being that I'm a member of this great site I was able to gather all this great information and help him out by taking the radio out and getting the code for him. It took all of 5 mins to do what the dealer wanted to charge $70 or what ever it was.
And people are saying that the code is in glove box of some cars they might not even be taking the radio out. :fawk:
