Default My new project

Picked this up at a junkyard for $15. Prlly gonna be about 40-60 to repaint

I'm gonna replace my front passenger door handle with this, pretty much the same as shaving the keyhole. Since I never really use the lock on that side I figured I might as well clean it up. Gonna have to get it painted and then I'm putting it in. Does anyone who has messed with their door handles or worked in that area have any advice or tips? Also, whats the best way to remove and then re-apply that plastic inside the door panels? As things move along I'll be taking pics and putting them here: http://community.webshots.com/user/fryd . Thanks

it would be funny if your remote died, or your other key lock stopped turning.

haha :P

it doesnt work

I went into the door to check stuff out. the acutaly handle mechanism (moving thing) connects to the rod that openes the door differently up front then in the back. I Believe it still bolts up in the same spots, but im not positive, didnt get a good look. If it does bolt into the same spots then i could just change the handle, but thats alot of dremeling pins and **** off to get the handles out, then reattaching the other one would be a headache, trying to keep the pin from coming out. Prolly just gonna give up and scrap this mod. 15 down the hole.
But, I'll hold onto the handle, maybe if i come across a front one real cheap I'll work on switching the handles and ****ing with that big pin.

on my old accord i had the front keyholes shaved. i figured, i could either shave the front keyholes, or the trunk keyhole. i shaved the front ones and left the trunk keyhole so just incase my battery died i could still crawl through the trunk aight, peace.

I have that mod done on both of my doors. It looks great, and as far as the rods go for opening the door, I know what you mean. The backs were completely different on my fourth gen also. Plus the places they mounted were different. Took me like 5 hrs to get them all in and working. But I feel it was a mod well worth the work. I dont have 1 keyhole on the exterior of my car now. :naughty:

yeah, u gotta mod the rear door handles so you can open the fronts. like someone said in this post, you could get your passenger keyhole shaved.

u can always crawl through the trunk if your remote dies.. i was thinking about doing the rear to front door handle mod but i could never get a hold of some door handles.. how did u get them out anyways? from the inside panel.. or did u just rip them out..???

it was already ripped out, I got lucky, but you would need a socket wrench to get them out. But dont waste your cash cause it doesnt just bolt up like i thought it did. It takes much more work to get it to work
