Too many problems with them. acedental discharge, injury when they discharge, theft, just something else to go wrong.

ALWAYS hated air bags.

yea i need airbags...im swapping into a 97 accord...so from what i see so far my options are: 99+ tl and cl steering wheel and prelude (still gotta find what years)? I know the s2000 swap works cus its been talked about but i'm not willing to dish out 300 bucks for a used steering wheel..sorry its just like a round piece of leather =) do any aftermarket steering wheels come with airbags?

also if your wondering why i'm doing this..its because the 5th gen accord steering wheels feel like shit..their skinny and large in diameter..atleast the ones that came in the ex's anyways

I purchased a Honda OEM leather wrap for my 5th gen EX wheel from www.ahmotor.com for like $58 with shipping. It took me like 30 minutes to lace it up on my wheel. Its the perfect diameter (I have fairly large hands) and it makes the wheel look smaller in diameter. When I first installed it, I wasnt so sure I liked it, but once a few hot days went past, it shrunk down nicely and now it fits perfectly.

This pic gives you an idea. Yes, it is my car.

yeah, I wasn't sure if the older CLs and TLs would fit or not.

hmmm..maybe i'll look it up...but that leather actually increases diameter...do you know how think the wrap is? like approximately of course..not exact

here, this pic shows it a little better... I dunno why I posted the other one, you cant see the wheel for crap.

It added a pretty good amount of thickness to the grip. Before I got my car I had driven a 2k1 Integra with a leather wheel, and it was like the perfect thickness... and I would say that my wheel with the leather wrap on it is pretty close in thickness. My reasons for getting the wrap were because of the thickness (or lack of) and how ugly that grained rubber is... overall I am very happy with it. If you just want some extra thickness in the grip, I definatly suggest this... its 100 times easier to install compared to swapping a steering wheel and air bag, and a crap load cheaper.

cool thanks for the added option..i think imma go your route...much cheaper and much easier =) so is it equal in thickness as the 2k1 gsr's steering wheel? i agree that those are very good in thickness...is it just a lil less thick than the integra's steering wheel?

It is slightly smaller than a Teg wheel... the teg wheel is thicker from front to back (if you know what I mean) and the accord wheel grip is just round... so thats the only difference...

You can get the universal Wheel Skins brand, and choose colors if you like, but with any "universal" product, the fitment wont be like OEM. I purchased the OEM one, specific for my car, so theres no doubts of fitment or quality. Its been on my car for almost 2 years now and it still looks new (I drive a LOT too). www.ahmotor.com has both OEM and Wheel Skins.
