radio removal 1987 accord

Default radio removal 1987 accord

i have a 1987 accord, and i want to replace the radio headunit with a new cd player as i have cd's and i want to listen to them in the car. plus tapes seem to be going down hill in quality fast.

anway i cannot work out how to get the old unit out, i think it connected at the back but i am not sure

please help

It is secured behind the radio... there are 2 vertical screws that have to be removed and it will slide right out. Just crawl in there so you can see behind that console, and you should see them.

is that in the foot well then?

also how does this affect replacing that one with a new one, will the mounting method still work?

Yup.

You'll have to use the frame that comes with the new radio and bend the tabs to hold the frame in place.

Lay dowm in the drivers foot well and look behind the radio. You will see the two screws there.

so it will mean a new radio will fit in ok then? will i use the screws to secure a new head unit in place, or will it be tabs or something?
