torque steer is actually a complicated thing to explain SCC did a great right up on a few years ago. in simple terms it's when you feel in the steering wheel the car pulling to oneside under hard acceleration or you can also get it under hard braking too. i believe wider tires can exaggerate torque steer and alignment.

just set your wheels straight, let go of the steering wheel, lead foot gas paddle, see the steering wheel turn as a result of torq steer

there is rumored to be a slightly "delay" programmed into the stock ECU that prevents you from getting as hard of a launch as you normally could get because they wanted to make hard launches safer for the average joe. I'm not sure if there is any truth at all to this rumor, but it would make sense. However, I've never seen a stock honda that had enough torque off the line to induce any amount of torque steer, however, downshifts could probably do it in some torqueyer cars? But yes, it's more or less due to the shifting of weight and transaction caused by a hard bit of acceleration.

cool. thanks for the replies. that's what i thought initially, but i wanted to confirm. torque steer probably applies to front-wheel drive, right?

just to add torque is worse if you have unequal lenght axles as in auto trannny accords. the 5sp have a intermediate shafts with 2 equal lenght axles, but not autos. this makes for worse torque steer. when i was auto and f22b1 powered with my AEM CAI in 0-20 degree i got some nasty torque steer around 4k under hard acceleration.

u cant get torque steer with a rwd. torque steer is caused by power going to the front wheels. drive any late model caddy (with a northstar) and the steering wheel will try to jerk around if you dont hold it tight while acclerating hard.
