It has nothing to do with sound.....law says anything besides stock is illegal. Everyone thinks sound is a factor, but you wouldn't notice a non-stock exhaust if it wasn't loud right??

Maybe the NYC area is different.....but I live an hour north and I know this for a fact.

if it is louder then stock then it is illegal but if the cop tries that then there is another section that states the db level.
trust me on this i am on long island in suffolk county and i looked at the laptop that the cop was showing me all the laws

well 72dbs at 25ft is damn quiet, i hope that is at idle. if there is db level then technically you should make them prove your car doesn't pass.

anyways another question...what in the world were you doing prior to getting pulled over?? if you were driving completely normal i have hard time thinking a cop would ticket you for a apexi ws for doing nothing wrong unless he just found out someone was ****ing his wife or his teenage daughter.

haha, everything is legal in NC it seems, I find that in Raleigh that the cops are a little more quick to pull over imports with loud exhausts - for speed or something, but never for real stupid stuff. However, back home in Asheville they had a thing for pulling over people i knew that had neons (serves them right I suppose?)..... but pretty much everything flies around here as long as you have a catalytic convertor :P

i love my apexi ws along with my "Proof Of Certification" i got after i got my first ticket. glad i dont live in NY, but Cali pigs are pretty bad also. whenever i get pulled over i have it handy to bust in the pigs face "booooooyeah only 90 dB!". but i know he will find some other shit to get me for.

Yeah, I really hate to see it go, I love it... but I cant afford to keep getting tickets, someone out of NY will have more fun with it I guess. I'm gonna go with something that dosent scream "AFTERMARKET!!!" so bad. I know for a fact that the cops arent hearing it, they just see it and start scribbling away.

I had my ex gf drive my car around a parking lot one time cause I wanted to see just how quiet it was... all I heard was the intake... almost no exhaust tone, only a deep but quiet growl at take off...

^you could always paint the shiny part of it black with a high temp paint or something. someone on one of these boards did that and they scuffed up the tip too, to make it less shiny.

yeah, I was gonna do that, but it still sticks out like a sore thumb... with the muffler i'm gonna get, you wont even be able to tell anything is modified except for having different tips.
