anyone replace the front speakers yet? i've heard the front was made for 5 1/4" speakers, but some 6 1/2" speakers may fit as well. anyone have 6 1/2" speakers in the front? if so, did you have to make any modifications?

 

nope, stock speakers are 6.5s, just screw em in

 

just be aware of depth issues. I have some Bostons in mine right now, but they are too deep, don't sound too good. I hope to fit some Polk Audio's in there, but if they don't fit, im getting some Kenwood eXcelon dual mags. Good sh*t.

did you have to do any modification or customizations?

 

I use JBL GTi 5.25 kevlar coupled componentsall around .. however i built my own adapters from fiberglass to keep them out of the path of the window. 5.25 produces the midbass i prefer in the music I listen to. I also like coupled components... the imaging isnt as good, but i hate drilling holes into interior pieces for tweets.

 

yeah, we had to cut the backing off of the speaker holder. Check out my site and look at "Complete Audio Install" for pictures of what exactly we did.

 

I know what you had to do, I pondered doing the same in my 4th gen civic until I found the wonderful Kenwood eXcelon dualmags

 

you should get top-of-the-line speakers, theyre good
