Default Air Condidtion Filter ?

I am getting my air condition filter replaced on my 99 accord ex (4cyl). I have been calling around to see how much it would cost and I keep getting different answers. Can anyone tell me how much it usually cost to replace the 2 air condition filter (parts & labor) and how much time it takes to replace it.

Also, if this is a simple job, I think i would want to replace it on my own. Please let me know if this will take a lot of effort. Thanks

And btw, one mechanic told me that i didnt have to replace my brake fluid even though i have 65,000 miles without ever flushing it. He just said to make sure the level are topped off. Is this true?

Welcome to the board.

It's an easy DIY job. I bought the two filters at Honda for $16 each or so. Took me 30 minutes or so.

Here's my DIY write-up with pics: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...threadid=43307

As far as the brake fluid, it should be replaced/flushed every 45K miles, so I'd do it. Another DIY job, just get a friend to man the brake pedal to make it easier.

If you plan on doing a few things yourself, I'd really recomend getting a service manual from www.helminc.com About $70 and it'll pay for itself the first couple jobs you do.

Hope that helps.

I looked at the thread with the pictures and wondering if this is any easy task to do on your own. I asked the dealer and they wanted $95 parts and labor to change out the dust filters. I'm just afraid of getting stuck on one of the steps.

kaliraver69,

when you followed the steps was there a step that was more troublesome than the others? how long did it take you for the whole process?

This is a very easy do it yourself project which will save you alot of money compared to taking it to the dealer.

FYI Purolator sells the IDENTICAL air filter for a fraction of the price as the dealer. Its the exact same filter media, made by the same exact company. Dont waste your time or your money going all the way to the dealership.

Mr Hyde,

I believe I found Purolator's website that sells the filter. Would you happen to know the part number that I should be looking for?
