I hear you; you know what it is, though, dawg? I just HATE when aluminum alloy wheels, like my OEM ones, get filthy from rain, whatever---and the next sunny day you have, the rims look so dull and so ugly and go completely unnoticed. The black road gunk starts to collect in the spokes and the rims look small, unimpressive and just dont look right in the wheelwells. With chrome, they can be a little dirty but the sun will still hit them as chrome, and will sparkle...there is something about chrome that just looks better, IMO, than standard alloy.

Whatdya Mean, LX? Your painted and clearcoated rims have a similar "shimmering" effect when the sun hits em? Really? My clearcoated (and they are) OEM alloy wheels shine, but only when VERY clean and polished. Once driving on them and collecting road dirt, they appear dull and completely un-shiny. Thats what I HATE about regular, standard alloy, non-chrome rims that every auto manufacturer puts as standard on their cars. On luxury cars, sure, chrome is an upgrade, but usually the car comes with alloy. And it looks soooooo dull.

Do they really? Even aftermaret rims? They look bad when dirty? Do they actually begin to look smaller, too? Thats what happens to my OEM rims. They look like at least 15's when dirty...

really, I can say that they look better dirty than how my hubcaps looked dirty. I'm sure they look better dirty than when the 15" alloys look dirty. If you don't like how it looks when they get dirty, just wash them!

Hahaha...well, its not always so easy, my friend; all you guys are young and probably dont have your own places yet....wait until you get a bit older and start living with a woman, etc., and you cant always drop everything to spend three hours hand washing a car---it's not always as easy as "just wash it!!"

well, I just take it to the car wash while at college, or do a quick car wash in the driveway if I'm home in Houston. It takes time, but after while you can wash a car by hand quickly and effectively...
