the reason I need to keep my existing harness is because its already wired for the auto tranny's transaxle and lockout solenoids. If I use the type-r engine harness it won't have that stuff and would rather not try and hardwire it in.
Uh, I did an auto to manual conversion, and didn't ahve any plugs left over once the manual tranny went in. What extra parts are there? Pleace inform me that my 93 sol would be different.

if you want forced induction, your best bet is an ls engine with a turbo setup. they have lower compression that the b16a2 abd b18c, and can therefore take boost better and more reliably without being built. with turbo, you wont miss vtec anyways, since the turbo is a much more significant power increase than vtec.
also...the best way to get the most out of your engine is to have the proper ecu that was made/programmed for it. otherwise you might not have the optimal rev limiter, a/f ratio, and vtec enguagement. for example, if you used a b16 or b18 ecu with a type-r engine, the engine would only be able to rev up to about 8000rpm, where the type-r engine makes its best power between 8000-9000rpm.
if you used a type-r ecu for a gs-r or b16 engine, then the rev limiter would kick in 1000rpm too high...a little dangerous for those engines considering thier head is not designed fro that high a stress.

well,I am very particular about building my car the right way. there is no way I would take a used motor that i know absolutely nothing about drop it in my car. I would take it apart, clean it up an replace any worn parts before hand. therefore, why go through buying another motor swap for $3k,rebuilding everything with hi-po parts $1-2k,turbo or SC $3-4K,tranny work $1k,stronger axels $1k. It would be cheaper and more reasonable to keep and build up my existing 1.6 vtec which I already have, I've owned since new,and the car is already set-up for that motor. I won't be out there smokin type-r's but I don't race my car,its a show car and would just like for it to move alittle faster and have the motor work done to show off at cars shows.
