if you want forced induction, your best bet is an ls engine with a turbo setup. they have lower compression that the b16a2 abd b18c, and can therefore take boost better and more reliably without being built. with turbo, you wont miss vtec anyways, since the turbo is a much more significant power increase than vtec.
also...the best way to get the most out of your engine is to have the proper ecu that was made/programmed for it. otherwise you might not have the optimal rev limiter, a/f ratio, and vtec enguagement. for example, if you used a b16 or b18 ecu with a type-r engine, the engine would only be able to rev up to about 8000rpm, where the type-r engine makes its best power between 8000-9000rpm.
if you used a type-r ecu for a gs-r or b16 engine, then the rev limiter would kick in 1000rpm too high...a little dangerous for those engines considering thier head is not designed fro that high a stress.
