Default found my suspension noise problem...now what

For a while now I've been trying to diagnose a suspension knock in my front end. It turned out to be a bad inner tie rod and broken boot. Does anyone have any info that might make my repair go smoothly. I know how to take the outer tie rod end out....i'm just gonna wing it from there.

If it is the tie rod that connects to the steering. This is what you can do. Honda doesn't sell just the boot, you have to buy the whole tie rod assembly. Since it is making noise you sould replace the assembly anyway. Measure the distance between the locknut on the inter tierod and the end of the tie rod, write it down. Next loosen the locknut. Then disconnect the tie rod from the hub assembly, being careful unscrew the tie rod. Now, the tie rod end should be pointing down, unscrew it from the steering rack and count how many turns it is before it is disconnected. When you reassemble screw the new tie rod in the same count as you did taking it out and use the measurement to double check. This will be a good temp alignment so you can drive until a professional alignment is done.

thanks for the help...i hadn't even thought about counting the treads. Actually honda does sell the boot, but i found it a little cheaper at napa. I've already got it and the inner rod end, just waiting till saturday to install them. Thanks!

Even if you count threads then removing outer tie rod it won't help too much, you will need to have alignment done by the shop or you can say goodbye to your tires. I have to replace it on my own too so I got to the shop right away repair for alignment to check and it was far away from what it suppose to be.
Good luck!

Well...i replaced the inner rod..and ended up replacing the outer one as well today just because the joint on it was a little loose too. It rides soooooo much better. No more noise at all! It was a little out of align at first, but after a couple trial and errors of adjusting the tie rod i finally got it back straight. Thanks for all your help!
