I have a friend who owns a 2003 Civic EX and while she was driving the instrument panel (tachometer, speedometer, thermostat, and fuel gauge) dropped to zero. She had to pull over, shut the car off and turn it back on in order for the system (and gauges) to reset themselves.

What could have caused this?

For a car that new, I'd bring it back to the dealership and have them take care of it.

 

That's the plan. But I'd like to know what caused it.
