New 2003 Civic
You need to know how much you can spend, then don't let the salesman know you can spend that much. Act as if money is tight but you are very serious about getting a car. If you learn to drive manual the car will be cheaper. It's not that hard to learn in a week or so. Just take a friend's car to an empty parking lot and have at it with a coach in the passenger's seat. When dealing with the dealer, make sure you remember that you have the money he wants, but don't be a punk ass to him 'cause he'll screw you the first chance he gets if you piss him off. Make him like you, then he will do anything to help you out. Bottom line, you need to know how much you have, there is no magic number we can throw out for you to shoot for. It's all up to you and the dealer really. Make sure you do your research before you go though.
