I believe you need the GSR stock mount and the stock engine mount for the stock motor.

1.) What mounts would i use?
2.) Is there any modifying of the wiring harness... if so, what kind of things would i have to do with the wiring?
3.) I've never done a swap before but i feel that i'm pretty mechanically inclined and could get things going with a helm manual by my side. So do i need both the helm manual for my car and the manual for a GSR?

Tell me if you think this is a bad idea. I'm REAL confident that I could do this on my own. What's a few mounts, somewiring, and a headache, when in the end i'll have saved myself some money for extra parts.... right? plus i gain a little knowledge.

I think I am pretty mechanically inclined and I would have not done my swap myself. No way!! I'm glad a had most of the work done by a mechanic. Trust me when I say there will be a lot of kinks to work out when you get it back (engine lights, etc.). That takes alot of time. So my best recommendation is get the actual swap done and get in drivable. Then you need to work out all the little things.... you learn alot just by doing that!

I can give you a part list if you need one. I just got done with ym swap.

So for the driver side upper mount, the GSR cast iron part that attaches to the block and the stock civic braket that attached the motor to the stock civic mount?

Gsr throttle cable, all your regular maintnence (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil filter, etc.), si motor mounts (Part numbers are 11910-P30-000 brkt. engine mount, 50827-s04-n10 bracket, rr.), and if you want to keep your a/c a del sol mount for that. And depending upon the year.modle you get wiring changes, etc. But those are the main things U NEED!

Also you don't need the helms manuals. I have the pages for both gsr and civic scanned into my computer. I can send them to you. For wiring questions that is....

Thanks but working for Honda and Acura helps with the manual situations, just not the what part works with what swap. That is not a common thing at the dealer level.

Oh ya so I called my engine dealer and he said all that was needed to do the swap will come with it. Do you think that this means all the mounts needed as well???

Ya all the stuff for the motor will come. ECU, axles, shift linkage, and motor mounts.

However what they are not telling you is that the mounts that come with a gsr will no fit into your car. You need different ones, in your case the SI motor mounts. Normally they cut or remove all the hoses/wiring. So this sometimes can be annoying seeing your stock power steeering hose will not fit on a gsr pump (Have this problem myself). ALso the hose from your radiator will not fit. All the other hoes should work though. Since it is a jdm motor I am assuming the wiring harness will not fit either.... however they don't usually send that anyways and its alot easier to use your stock one. The only mod you will have to do is wire up the IAB cause only gsr motors have that. Again I'm assuming you have a 99-00 ex. You wil aready have the vtec wired and the knock sensor. I can give you the part number for the hose you can use that will fit perfectly from your motor to the radiator if you'd like... just don't ahve it on my now. Let me know.

PS. What year motor are you swapping into what year car/model??
