im going to start doing all the bodywork on my hatchback and on of the things i want to do is to shave off the side moldings but ive been hearing different ways on how to do it and im not sure what is the best and longest lasting way. so what are you methods of shaving moldings off?

I'm shaving my side moldings, and I'll let you know it sucks balls.


But I'd rather pay $50 for shaved side moldigns than $600.


I used fiberglass and bondo, everyone says it'll crack but one side has worked on for like the last 6 months, and nothing.


You can weld, but be ready to grind the welds down, and then bondo just like everyone.

i think having them are gay also b/c the dont serve any purpose to anyone IMO

 

what did you do...fill it in with bondo and then fiberglass on top of that?

I don't understand hardcore jdm folks at all.


For one thing they hate shaved side moldings, then they like the JDM CTR side moldings. HMMMM CTR moldings make it flush kinda like SHAVED SIDE MOLDINGS! Bah to you all!

No I fiberglassed the metal shut, and then used fiberglass to fill in some of the modlings stuff, and bond on top to smooth it all out.

Big pain in the ass.

i'd just paint the side moldings to match
except that my side moldings are so dinged up.... dang previous owners...
