Default throttle adjustment

To adjust the throttle cable in my civic, do i have to take of the cable bracket? The locknut is hard to get to because the bracket covers the top, and to loosing it from the bottom is hard because of the air intake.

No, you just loosen the upper most nut on the top of the bracket. Once it's loose, you can turn the odd shaped nut on the inside of the bracket.

Put it back in the notch and tighten the upper most nut again.. done.

I'll try it a little later if it gets cooler. It's like 95 degrees here in NY. Thanks though.

what upper most nut...there are two bolts that connect the bracket to the intake manifold, and then connected to the bracket are the locknut and the adjustment nut. Even if I take the whole bracket off it is still hard to take the locknut off, and even if i could it would be hard to judge the slack with the bracket off. Now what? Someone please help me?

I think you missed what I was saying....

you don't have to remove the whole bracket, you just adjust the length of the throttle cable itself by following the instructions I gave.

See if that helps you any more. If not, I might take pics for you tonight and post them up so you see what I mean.

so you mean loosen the nut that is closest to the driver side first. The other one is impossible to get to.

You loosen #1 enough to get the cable out of the bracket. You then tighten or loosen #2 to speed up or slow down your idle. You then replace the cable into the bracket and tighten #1 again.
