Default OBD conversion

OK guys... I think instead of trying to locate a 96-00 ecu for my 99 civic EX w/ a 96 jdm b18c motor I'd be better off doing an obd1 conversion.

Whatcha think?

Pro's/Con's?

And whats the difference between a usdm vs. a jdm one? obd1 ecu that is.

Just thinking it might be easier to stick with the obd2 in your car as in mine also. If they get my shipment right man I will have the same in about a week (B18C 96+). lol I might be worring about the same thing soon What happened?? Did they not send the ECU with the swap??

I hope things work out....let me know your progress and how you like the engine man

Yup the ECU came damaged and never got a new one. Sick of dealing with this guy. I amde the mistake of dealing with a middle man who "said" he had a connection in Japan. Bad move, but the motor runs great and I had compression and leakdown tests run. So I'm all good there. Just the ECU.

Stupid middle man! What did he say? "oh sorry you must have broken it, you bought it!! Sweet at least the motor tests good. I wish I could help you in that department

Skunk2 makes an OBD2-OBD1 conversion

OBD1 ECU is much simpler... I say go for it if you want to get the converter wiring.

Ahhh...so they they do make a conversion. Is it simple/inexpensive?? I know OBD1 is simpler but seeing as how both Slacker and I have OBD2 would it not be simpler to stick with that....I dunno????

No, OBD1 has less sensors to manage which makes it easier for you to run a swap cause you won't have as many things to try to get to work properly on the hybrid.

OBD1 is the way to go!

Kyle at KS-Motorsports and hook you guys up!

Nice man. Your right for sure OBD1 has less control on the car right?? Better for performance fo sho. If they send me the 96+ with the OBD2 what modifications will we have to do to make it work or is it just plug n play!! I'm no genious obviously when it comes to motors. i learn as I go + it helps that your friend has done about 15 swaps also...lol!! I know the motor just bolts right in but all I seem to find in my research is >>>bolts in with minor modifications<<< lol...what god damn it what Is that it>>mods to the OBD and wiring harness?? I don't want to take away from the origional topic here, sorry slacker, but this might clear up some of your question too. Maybe

Very jumbled question man.. having a hard time figuring out exactly what you're asking... :happysad:

96+ is OBD2
95- is OBD1

If you get an OBD2 ECU, it'll plug right into your car (if you have a 96+). If you want to go with an OBD1 ECU, you'll have to put the adapter on your ECU harness to get it to plug into the OBD1 ECU.
