I've seen an ls and a b16 at the track..same 92 hatch..and the ls beat it till the very end..and the b16 kicked in and beat it by .3....14.5 for the b16...14.8 for the ls..i don't know what either car had done to it so it really doesn't help much..but I know that the b16 just had an exhaust and intake..I belive the LS wasn't very modded either....but if you want high end get the b16...and then eventually supercharge it if u want...or get an ls and eventually turbo..either way you'll be happy with it..

no no the explaination is that a 93 civic wieghs less than a 99-00 civic so it dont need as much power to go. also keep in mind that if that same b16 was in your 93 you would have no problems walking yourself.

IMO the only difference between the b16a and the b18b in the exact same car is the driver and that comes from my personal experence of having 2 b16 hatches around and 2 b18 hatches around and we all run one another all the time and it all comes down to who drove better that run as to who won

on www.hmotorsonline.com it cost 2200 dollars for a ls swap, plus s&h the b16a is bouts 2400, you can get their little deal for 1799.00 for the a(2) but you still need to get axles, shift linkage and motor mounts, would the b16 still be cheaper though (im considering this right now also) i have been leaning towards the ls for quite some time now, but im just not sure yet.

is 2200 dollars way over-priced for a ls motor and tranny or what? I think they're smokin crack -I would think half that price

you should be able to get an ls swap for around $1500 bucks -
$2200 is a rip off

yeah 2200 is a rip but the only ls motors that i have seen that people have gotten them for 1500-1800 were not in the best shape cause ls motors that come for that cheap come from private dealer. they will send you pics of one thing and you will get another so in the end you still have to go scavange up some parts and end up spending the 2200. so if you want a reliable b18 with warranty i may add go with hmotorsonline they are very good people and give you a serious hookup.

3 examples we have bought a total of 5 motors from them. one had a bad tranny one had a bad ecu and another had a bad map sensor. we called them up told them and they shipped use new ones and those are all things that are hard to check for unless the motor is in the car which they are not when they get them. i feel the added security aka warranty is worth the little bit of extra cash. would you want to buy a motor for 1800 and have it have a bad tranny and then have to spend 600-800 for another one

true story my roomate bought and ls for 1800 the the starter is missing off of the motor which is 120 then the intermediate shaft is missing 150 then the alternator is missin 150. the guy never sent him the axles 150. all of this stuff was in the pictures that were sent to him but not on the motor when he got it. thats almost 500 or so more. 1800+500=2300 so far you are 100 over what hmotors cost and still not garunteed it starts.

when you are spending that amount of money especially on a limited buget like most of use are its hard to afford the shit you are not ready to because you though you were gonna get it.

my roommate has a b18b in a 93 cx hatch weight 1850 running 3inch crush bent exhaust and 16 in rotas with very good dunlops. he spent around 3000 for motor installed

then my buddy has a 95 ex coupe with a fully built ls turbo running 2.5 inch exhaust and 14 in steelies and bald ass tires and running 7pi he spent around 7000 for motor installed and still isnt 100% on all compontents needed to bump up the boost to 14psi like the motor was designed to hold

here are there times

b16a hatch 15.5 @ 88.8
b18b hatch 15.2 @ 90.3
b18b turbo 13.5 @ 106.4

*note* real shitty track it was once an old airstrip so it goes a little uphill.

as for the comment on the low end power yeah every race between the b16 and the b18 hatches it seemed like the b18 had the b16 by a car and 1/2 off of the line every time. but it makes for sweet races to watch the b16 reel the b18 in. so as you can see it is relitivly close races between the b18 and b16

oh and the turbo'd b18 yeah its fun to watch him destroy vetts. and thats only on 7psi he is bumping it up to 11psi next weekend cause his first boost controller broke and now he has a new one along with slicks now so we are hopin for 12's

and another thing there was a ls/vtec turbo crx with slicks out there running 12.45 was the best i saw my buddy said he hit a 11.9

hope that helps your decision
Dave doesn't have a built motor...all he has his pistons and a block guard. He also has a 3 inch downpipe, to stock exhaust up to a 2.5 inch muffler. It's a mish-mesh of shit. Another thing, don't compare the times of the B18B hatch versus the B16A hatch. They aren't even comprable cars. We don't have the same mods, we don't have the same cars. It's nearly impossible to compare motor versus motor when there are so many other variables.
