i have a 00 si, no problem with acceleration. not a fast car, but its got a little pull on the sohc engine. car-videos.com has the quarter mile as about 15.84@89.9 or somethin like that. i also have seen the 0-60 as 7.2 repeatedly. this could be off tho
Here's the problem with automatics that most carmakers are having a problem fixing: an automatic transmission senses when you are going uphill that you hit the gas and instead of where you would shift down with a 5 speed, it thinks it needs to shift up. With many of the newer automatics, not only does it take into account accelerator position, it also takes into account wheel speed and some even have computers that remember your driving habits and adjusts its shifting tendencies to fit all these factors. This is why with many of the automatics, especially older ones, you can't climb hills as well as with a 5 speed. Believe me, you won't have any problem accelerating up hills with a 00 si.

KC CL 1785 you should know your car better. Why do you think automatics cars have D-3 and D-2? They are spceifically desigined for up/down hill traveling.
D-3 uses the first three gears in your vehicle. It provides engine braking going downhill, and power when going up hill
D-2 this gives you more climbing power when going up hill and and increased engine braking when going down hill.
When I had my civic ex i never had a problem going up steep hills.
-I hope you didn't sell your car because you had problems going up hill...
