I would suggest saving money until you can afford a swap that you want.

If you are in a rush, I would think the most buget minded motor is the B18B.

swaps and cheap budget do not work.... i was on a tight budget so i saved over winter(7 months for b18c ) and bought what i really wanted. you should save and buy what u really want or u may regret it down the road.. be preapred for suprises tooo so you might need to save a little more ontop of what u planned for the motor and labor....

It's nice as hell outside and I've left my girl in storage because I've been saving for shocks... Damn winters, and damn shocks being so expensive!
Why not bottle feed an Ls or turbo it? The Ls is a strong block. If you really want a budget engine, a dohc jdm f22 isn't too bad of a choice. Too bad they have no aftermarket support...
And what about a 1st gen b16 with a hydro tranny?

Hey xsists its me, I talked to you a few nights ago about the HX wheels, but anyways. I'm doing a H22a swap, and can't wait. By the way I have a 00 civic. Anyone ever do an H22a swap into an 99-00 civic? Im a bit scared, I've done a b18c1 into a crx, and we had to beat some shit with a hammer and cut a couple of pieces out, not to mention grind down some areas. But how hard is this swap going to be?

B20Z? total cost to get it put together around $2000. Faster than B16 or B18B... option to crvtec (which would waste b18Cs, done right) once the cash starts rolling in.

i wouldnt reccomend swapping on a tight budget. just save up. it'll always cost a bit more than your plan, no matter how closely u crunch the numbers. do it right the 1st time and save a lot of headaches (like swapping out the motor again cuz u skimped on the 1st one)

The B20B/Z goes in just like any other "modern" B-series. It is vitually the same block with variations for the bore difference, the cylinders are supposedly one-peice-cast in instead of individual tubes like in the B18A/B. Besides the block difference and piston diameter difference, they are otherwise identical to the B18A/B and take the same parts (rods, crank, all head components, etc.). Block strength is comparible to the B18B.

Torque specs for what?

so is it better to have cyilinders like the b18a/b or the b20b/z ?

also i was asking about torque specs for the b20. the b18 is 145hp/126tq (JDM)

look here

They got their B20z up to about the HP of a B16 and about 40-50 more ft-lbs, just with pretty basic stuff.
