Default o2 sensor question..

i own a 97 hatch... and about 8 mos. after removing the cat and putting in headers etc. the CEL came on.. we brought it to a mechanic and it coded as a o2 sensor error.. he thought it was shorted (i have it taped over from the headers) but it turns out it wasnt shorted and now it works again. the question is what to do with the caspers o2 sensor i bought, is it worth my while to put it in? or should i just leave it until it actualy breaks?

thanks.

when my check engine light comes on and the car drives normal, the error is usually caused by O2 sensor slow response...
some ppl have replaced the sensor but didn't completely resolve the problem as the light comes on again occasionally.

FYI, I replaced my wifes primary (on the header) O2 sensor. she drives a 97 civic non-vtec :woowoo: Anywho, autozone has the direct OEM replacement for $80.0
