that's how i was taught. it's not like you go to town doing it.
just band it down half an inch if that.

i wouldnt go half an inch even.... just a little bit with a tap hammer will do... very little bit, like an eighth to a quarter inch TOPS
but that is in my experience... everybody finds their own technique after a few attempts, you will too.
