what would be the purpose of replacing the stock with a thicker head gasket? also.. how do you go about in doing so? do u just remove the valve cover and pop it in or do u have to remove the whole head?

you have to remove the cam gear along with a bunch of other stuff; timing belt, crank pulley bolt, various hoses, etc

you is confused, do not take off your head

to change a head gasket you have to take the head off. timing belt has to come off the cam gear.and the bracket that goes from the block to the intake manifold. after that take out the head bolts and thats it put on a new gasket with new head bolts and tourqe them down accordingly.
