suspension FAQ
The purpose of the bumpstop is to be stiff so when you bottom out it doesnt just bash the metal. I wouldn't cut it if I was on the safe side of things. Id rather have it bash the rubber and not just on the medal frame. What is 1/2 inch of travel when if you ever bottom out with no bump stop or with half a bumpstop which still is nothing then you'll start bending the front end.
wassup westcoaststyle?
i haven't been around this board or any boards for a long time.. took some break with car stuff... my car is pretty much done.
turbo still running good and strong. kept it in stock boost, also.. i see that you got a b18 now.. that's tight, bro...
i also got a new toy to mess around with now. i got me a 91 mr2 turbo in very good condition, interior, exterior, and stock engine components... so all is well.. im still stationed in VAFB.. i love it here...

The bumpstop will affect the height of the car only if the springs allow the car to sit low enough for the car to be resting on the bumpstops. At stock height or not much lower, they won't come into play. With some lowering springs (I think Neuspeed Race is one of them), the bumpstops are touching. I remember seeing a post where a Neuspeed rep told them that the spring rate and design took the stock bumpstop into consideration.

Yeah, I could be wrong about the Neuspeed Race but if a car sits low enough, the bumpstops will also absorb shock/resist compression (as they do when the shock fully compresses). If the email the person posted a while back was real, supposedly the spring manufacturers take this added "spring rate" into consideration and design the spring with the bumpstop in mind.
