Crank Fluctuation Sensor neccessary to change?
Ive been riding my car with this sensor being bad for about a year now and it hasn't ran any different then when the sensor was functioning. All I can tell as to what it does is just detects if the crank misses according to what the ECU's determines it should be.
I see no reason to change this sensor considering it isn't a critical key feature to the functionality of the vehicle. If there is a misfire then I will be able to hear it as well as feel the difference in how it cranks. I am very familiar with the way my car sounds and feels. I have changed out the timing belt 2 years ago as well as the water pump. Under the circumstances, I find it unneccessary work to have to change out the whole bottom crank housing and pulley just to change out this sensor. There are people with swapped engines that don't even use this sensor anyway.
I am more than likely going to continue to deal with the engine light being on unless someone can give me substantial reasoning as to why I should change the sensor. I do check the status of the engine codes every so often to know the condition of my car.

It's just a mere sensor that detects the improper rotation of the crank. If you are good with your car then you should be able to notice how it feels when you start it and how it normally runs. People did this normally back in the days before the times when computers were added to notify the driver.
I did the ECU wire trick to disable it. Although I could have gone the route of changing out the sensor itself. I feel that it is just a lot of time spent to change a component that isn't critical to the functionality of the car.
