my car is still popping fuses, the 7.5 alt fuse kept popping, and i put a 10 in it, and it stopped, but the lights would dim at idle, and the car would sometimes stall at stops. and if my headlights were on, the interior lights would dim if i put on high beams. now the car is popping the 10 amp fuses. and if i have the headlights are on, they (and all the other lights) will pulse. it did that before when the 7.5 fuses were poping.

im pretty close to buying a new alternator, im wondering if there's anything else i can do.

any ideas ?

Do you by chance have an aftermarket radio in there with the stock unit burried in the dash???

I had a problem with my 96 LX that did the same thing. What had happened was Best Buy buried the factory radio in the dash and it pinched and or shorted a wire and burned up the voltage regulator in the alt. and caused it to over charge. It blew the alternator and did the same thing that you are describing. The speedo is electronically controled so if the the electronics get messed up, it will do that.
The story has a happy ending though. Best Buy forked over $800 to get my car fixed.

:dunno: It was behind the dash though, obviously. You said you are popping fuses, you can try tracing that one to see if you can find anything(ie, grounded somewhere, or pinched.) I'll do some searching to see what I can figure out.
