Default Starting problems

Ok here is the deal my 93 Civic has a starting issue. When I get in sometimes i click the key over and I don't get anything no movement from the starter and it won't start. The starter doesn't even make a sound. So i figured it was the starter but here comes the weird part. It only does it on occasion like yesterday it did it twice and it took me probably 50 turns of the key to get it to start. Other times I get in and it fires right up. So this is making me wonder if it is the ignition switch simply not always powering up the starter? or is it a bad starter solnoid? Either way I can replace them I just don't want to spend money i don't have to or get stuck in a parking lot for 15 minutes like yesterday Thanks in advance.

Try hitting the starter with something, give it a good knock - not enough to dent it, but so it knows you mean business - and then try turning it over.

So I am assuming you mean my starter is bad? I already have a new starter that I can put in I just want to make sure that it will fix the problem cause if it doesn't then I will have wasted 85 bucks on a new starter.

Try hitting it first, when the car won't turn over. If you try and crank it, or have someone else, and hitting it finally gets it to turn over. Then I'd buy a new starter.
