High Mileage Oil???

With pure synthetic oils (most off the shelf oils are not pure synthetics) you can go about 30,000 miles between changes - you just have to make sure you change the filter every 3000-5000 miles.
Synthetic oils do not break down as quickly as conventional oils do, so they last longer.

is mobil 1 synthetic pure synthetic? if not how many miles should i wait before changing?
you can easily go to 5000 miles with synthetic.
I was in walmart buying some Mobile 1 5w_30 to change out my gearbox fluid.
Some old guy (60-70) behind he starts up a conversation
"Mobile 1 - best oil out there. I used to work for mobile 1. I keep mobile 1 in my truck. I never change the oil in my truck. Same oil for X number of years. I just change the oil filter regularly, and add more oil as needed when doing that. The stuff never breaks down"
Take it for what its worth.
shoot, if you're mainly highway miles, even regular oil is good for 5000+
synthetic can last a while.

Mobil 1 used to be labelled SYNTHETIC but now it's labelled TRI-SYNTHETIC. So I don't know what that means.
My Royal Purple or Amsoil is about $8-10/quart compared to Mobil 1 which is about $4

P.S. - Everyone should check out CivicSiRacer's other post (HERE) from waaay back. There's some good stuff in there. A little off topic - more related to synthetics than high mileage oil, but still pertinent.
