Default Thought you guys might be interested - oil changes

I thought I would pip in here and let you know something I researched about Amsoil and other synthetics.

My sponsor has been using Amsoil for years now in his truck. Back of the bottle says 35,000 mile oil changes can be done, you just have to change the oil filter every 3000 miles or so. He left his Amsoil in for 40,000 miles and then took about 1 ounce out to get it tested by http://www.titanracinglab.com/ The results came back that his oil was still good for use.

I started using Amsoil in my Civic and notice better mpg, acceleration and smoother idle. And most companies will tell you to change your oil at 3000-5000 miles because heck they're making more money. Even Mobil 1 Trisynethic you don't have to change every 3000-5000 miles. Talking to many racers some say wait til 7000-10000 miles - just making sure you change the oil filter.

It's about $2-5 more than the same amount of Mobil 1 so of course I'd go with Amsoil Plus my sponsor uses it and no problems

So your sponsor just drained his oil into a drain pan and poured it right back in after he changed his filter? Sounds pretty trippy but that's cool if the stuff works.

hey i sweet, i was going to start asking about this amsoil thing. and now that someone mentioned it woo hoo! my friend's dad is a dealer so i can get some... is it ok to put synthetic oil into my 200 k (kilometer) odometer'd car? or will something go wonky?
and yes you don't really drain the oil. you just change the filter..
its cause its truly 100% synthetic... unlike the "other" synthetic oils which are partially synthetic and will break down eventually

You know...I've never tried that before. I've always thought that if you remove the filter without draining the oil, that you'd have one big mess from oil pouring out. Is the filter high enough that oil wouldn't pour out even when full?
