Heh you are in the exact same position I am in
I say turbo. With the same amount (4800? damn thats more then enough for the turbo ) you can get more power/torque. You can also save some if you search for parts.

Ex intake manifold (I got mine for 150 complete)
exhaust manifold (HF manifold off a 88-91 CRX with a adapter plate welded on. Or something like a Greddy manifold. Full Race had a GB a while back on manifolds)
turbo (14g off a DSM or something)
wastegate
piping
SMC with DSM 450cc injectors for fuel management ( I think diablo motorsports had it. 280? I dont remember.)
turbopanda's 1st gen Supra piston/B16 rod combo for 500.
He was running 1.2 bar (whats that? ~15 psi?) going down the 400m (guess thats about the 1/4 mile heh) in a fully loaded sedan 13.4 @ 183km/hr. You can do the converting
And a side mount IC. Off a Starion or something.

Just the post I was looking for. But could you go into a bit more detail? The exhaust manifold part on is a bit confusing (DSM? SMC?) Forgive my ignorance, but boost is new to me.

I was doing a lot of research. But then I realized I'd need at least 2500. Figured I'd just get a bike instead

HF manifold page
Might have to try a couple times. Runs out of bandwidth fast.

Copied pasted from HT

"The SMC is an acronym for Super Map Controller. The SMC features:

-Controls larger injectors up to 440cc to 450cc for FI setups with factory ECUs
-Real-time MAP voltage correction for unparalleled drivability under idle, daily driving, and boost
-Smoothens transition from vacuum to boost
-Active internal MAP clamping to prevent a check engine light*
-User programmability
-Fuel trim, up to -55%, on four rpm levels
-Precise idle fuel control
-Unlimited rpm range
-Ultra-fast 20MHz RISC processor
-Easy installation
-works from 1-13psi of boost (injector size dependent)
-Stealth. Small and compact design
-Works with other factory NA engines and factory boosted engines with a MAP sensor "

Werd...that's too high. If you are interested i can get you a USDM 99-00 Civic SI swap for 2300+shipping.

but like I said, thats including install ($55 an hour). I'm sure the engine itself is much cheaper.

yah but how many hours are they planning to spend on labor? 4800- say...800 for manual tranny swap-2600 for the motor is still over 1 grand worth of labor.

do you think I could somehow fit an ex turbo onto an lx, with moddification to the intake manifold and exhaust?

what I'm thinking is getting an ex intake manifold, a turbo kit for an ex, and redoing the exhaust, new cat, etc. Would that work?
