Default DIY windshield install?

The previous owner of my 97 ex sedan had the rear windshield replaced with the wrong piece of glass. It is too small, leaving gaps between the rubber seal and the metal of the body and I get a swimming pool in my trunk because of it. I've been trying to fill in the gaps with silicone but it just takes too long and I'm thinking about just getting it replaced. My auto glass place gave me an estimate of about $350 to have them replace it, but I can get the right piece of glass from the local salvage yard for $50.
Has anybody here ever replaced their own windshield? Would you recommend or warn against doing it myself? I know I'd need to get the right sealer/glue and a rubber seal for it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I've been dealing with this for a year and a half and its starting to get on my nerves. THanks.

If you have a helper it shouldn't be that hard, though never even seen a window installed personally.

I know of people having issues with the fronts leaking even when done by a shop so I'd make sure you read up on it until you're confident you can position/seal it correctly before you start.

Worse case scenario you're in the same position as before w/ leaking only it will look better

As I understand it, you shouldn't be doing this job if you have to ask how it's done. I've seen it done and it doesn't seem too challenging. But not exactly something I want to just hop into.

I have done one window it was only the small window in a crx. I used this
http://www.reidmfg.com/ sort of scary you have to get it under the glass and pull cutting the old seal and sealer. Got a new seal and use 3m window sealer it didn't leak (it is not as bad of and angle as a front windshield). I do not think I would ever want to do that again and definitely not tackle a big window (maybe if it was not my money).

Thy have a power tool (looks crazy)

I do not like the fact you cant even mess up once. But if you mess up you are out 50 bucks or you are in the same scenario you are in now.

Found this http://www.wikihow.com/Replace-Your-...ile-Windshield said use urethane trust this over me.

I have seen the window guy at our dealership put in a rear windsheild it was pretty easy. The key is that you get the Old glue is cut even all the around and it is clean. then with two people set it in and make sure the gaps are the same and then put some tape around till the glue cures.

Thanks for all the responses! It's looking like a DIY install would be too much for me to handle. I think I'm just gonna keep pumping sealer into the seam until it stops leaking.
