trailing arm bushings
i have searched and found a lot of info on this topic but i still had some questions.
i am doing a drum to disc on my civic and the trailing arms bushings are wasted whats they best way to get them out without buying the $160 tool that i will use once. and am i supposed to take the whole thing with the metal ring or just the rubber inside. thanks
EDIT: where is a good place to order the bushings

A good shop should have a press. That's the best way.

You could find these for about 80.00 on Ebay sometimes.
Or OEM from here,

Best prices anywhere.

yeah, ive burned out bushings before then knocked out the lining after its been heated up with a torch. make sure you take measurements so ur trailing arm isnt sitting funnt. id also rec. OEM bushings over uerethane. ou cars dont like the fancy bushings in the trailing arms, ive heard they make the rear end unstable and can cause binding. im sure someone else has heard of this/experienced this before.

the design of the rear suspension having a flex at that bushing is a good idea. if you got the $ get mugen replacements or the megan stuff if you want (been a while since i researched this shit). either way. it's more expensive to put in new rubber or hardened rubber replacements since that requires a press. if you wanna do it at home. buy the ES replacement bushings made out of polyurethane. you need to remove the rubber completely. leaving the metal ring. but you need to remove the rubber on the ring.
the piece in the middle of the bushing needs to be reused as well. but again remove all the rubber. easy to do with a wire wheel and electric gun. take note of how the cent piece sits in the bushing and try to reinstall in the same way (too left, or too right). makes alignment easier.
hih.

Could someone explain in more detail what the issues are with having the Megan (or any other non-OEM) bushings installed verses the OEM.
Some of you have hinted about them but no true explanations.
