I used WD-40 and waited an hour (spraying it every 15 mins). Put my oxygen sensor socket on it with the arm from my jack around my wrench. And just used all my weight to get it off. Make sure to use anti-seize on the threads when you put the new on one. so it comes off easier later.

Hi all, I am new here, but got an o2 problem. I read the above posts prior to removing the sensor from my 94 Del Sol exhaust manifold. It came out smoothly, and slowly, BUT, after removal was done, the o2 sensor threads stripped off inside the manifold. I bought a thread chaser to remove the old o2 threads that were inside the o2 sensor hole in the manifold, but I can’t even get it started in the hole to clear the threads. Should I go through the job of removing the manifold to make the job sight more accessible?

Or is there a quick fix I just don’t know about.

Thanks, and it is getting cold out to work on the car, (no garage) oh, and do you think a garage mechanic would do it for me without laughing too much at me for the great job I have done.

You can drill and retap the manifold...You can buy a new manifold for dirt cheap (this would be my advice) or you can grind the threads out of the manifold and grind the threads off the o2 sensor and basically JB weld the sensor into the manifold...I know, ghetto but it works. I've worked without a garage before and i'm all about quick fixes

Why did you cut the wires? All you needed to do was unplug it from the harness and slide a wrench through.

i tryed a wrench and it slipped. the manifold has just a little room around the bottom on the oxygen sensor, just enough room for an impact socket to fit

You can buy a new manifold for dirt cheap
i see turbo manifolds for like $50 , but i dont have a turbo. or the $$ to get one. can you spot me a link to a sight to get a stock manifold for the same price, otherwise this weekend, i am takin off the manifold, and trying to tap it out, or drill it or getting that o2 dealer in there some how.
