b18c5 is usdm. b18c is jdm. althought their are itr and sir-g(gsr) versions of the b18c.

98+ jdm itr's are slightly more powerful and have 11.3:1cr and a 4.7FD lsd tranny.

thats about all i know is that one is usdm and one is jdm. i cant remember everything i've looked up in the past but i've always wanted a type r. my 97 ex is obd2? cos i "want" a 98+ type r an im not about to get to involved in a swap. i just want it to be a simple daily driver with some balls to back up the looks.

WHY spend an extra money on a B18c5??? it never makes sense. you can build a GSR with the extra cash YOU saved by not buying the c5, and produce MORE power. who cares about the type-r head.... wow B16 ported head. you can buy a b16 head and port it and slap it on a GSR block... all the type-r motors ARE b16 ported head B18c bottom block. CTR is the same thing BUT 1.6 internals. So if you pull out the cams, and change the valves, and new pistons there goes your 2-3k down the drain.

Seriously:
If you plan to build a motor
B18c1 or work on the D16

If you plan not to build a motor
B18c5

if you plan to build. D16 or B18c1. the type-r is something good if you plan on leaving it stock.

my friend just spent about 4k into his gsr motor and is prob somewhere at 380-400 bhp. haven't tuned it yet. we will know for sure when he gets it tuned, and dyno'd.
